Two Beech T-34C Turbo Mentors stopped into St. Louis Downtown Airport for fuel on a cross-country training flight today. It was a great day to practice crosswind landings, and the crews did a nice job on their landings. The aircraft were from TAW-4 (Training Air Wing 4) at NAS Corpus Christi, TX. Witnessing U.S. Navy Turbo Mentors in their red and white training colors is becoming rarer as these aircraft are phased out of service, and the visit was a real treat for the airport.

Members of the St. Louis Downtown Airport aviation community participated in the Memorial Day ceremony in nearby Hecker, IL. Four aircraft based at the airport launched to support the annual event, including two Nanchang CJ-6s, one Beech T-34 Mentor and a Cessna 172. The flying portion of the ceremony was arranged by members of EAA Chapter 64 that meets at historic 1929 Curtiss-Wright Hangar 2 at St. Louis Downtown Airport. Here are some views of the aircraft returning to land after their flights.

Wings Over Whiteman again proved itself to be a Midwest hub of aerial entertainment, featuring top civilian and military performers and an asset only Whiteman AFB in western Missouri can provide: the B-2 Spirit stealth bomber. Airshow organizers wove together a series of dazzling exhibitions in the air and on the ground, emphasizing Big Iron like the C-17, C-5, RC-135, C-130, B-52, B-1B and of course, the B-2. Warbirds were in great supply, including a Boeing (Stearman) A75 Kaydet, PV-2 Harpoon, Douglas A-26 and Fairchild PT-23. Performing in the airshow were P-51D Mustang "Gunfighter," Vought Corsair, Aerostars, Mig-17, Mi-24 Hind attack helicopter, Team RV, Red Steel Jet Team, Trojan Phlyers, Herb and Ditto, and headliner U.S. Army Golden Knights Black Team.
