American Waco Club Fly-In 2014: Fly Out to Aero Estates Part 1

By Carmelo Turdo
The annual American Waco Club Fly-In was held at Creve Coeur Airport this weekend, and The Aero Experience was in the middle of the action.  The next three features will capture one of the highlights of the event - the Saturday morning Fly Out to Aero Estates Airport in nearby Belleville, IL for a neighborly gathering of Waco owners, families and friends.  Cabin and tandem seat Wacos arrived from Creve Coeur Airport between 8am and 9am, and most of the guests gathered for breakfast hosted by Mark and Elaine Harter, owner of the gorgeous blue and white Waco YKS-7 featured on many previous posts.  Other aircraft types were represented, including Stearman trainers, conventional Cessna aircraft and a Luscombe 8A.  A few hours later, the aircraft began departing for Creve Coeur Airport, and many of those takeoffs were captured for this post.  Following the departures, our focus turned to the other end of the airfield where we attended a gathering for lunch with members of the former Scott AFB Aero Club, hosted by Ken Kellogg, 2013 St. Louis CFI of the Year.

Organizers of the event from the American Waco Club and Creve Coeur Airport should be commended for producing another successful Fly-In that brought together Waco owners from across the country for another valuable Midwest Aviation aero experience!
