St. Louis ACE Academy Visits Creve Coeur Airport to Explore Aviation Careers

By Carmelo Turdo
Students participating in this week's St. Louis Aerospace Career Education (ACE) Academy visited Creve Coeur Airport during the field trip portion of their schedule on Thursday afternoon. Their tour of the airport included stops at six airport businesses and educational nonprofit organizations that make the St. Louis aviation community great. The week-long program is hosted by the Organization of Black Aerospace Professionals with subject matter experts from the FAA, the Hugh J. White St. Lous Chapter of the Tuskegee Airmen and Henderson Aviation Resources. The students took other field trips during the week, including a visit to Scott AFB and a tour of Southwest Airlines at St. Louis-Lambert international Airport.

The Aero Experience was on site to facilitate the transition to each location around the airport during the field trip. Here we include a brief look at the students interacting with each participating organization:

Gateway Flight Training: Brian Borton, Bob Meder, Ryan Luffy

Gateway Chapter of the Army Aviation Heritage Foundation: Rick Nickerson, Dave Weller, Scott Wiley

Piston Aviation: Meghan Ord, Joseph Ord, Jack Norrenberns, Nick Amsler

The Aero Experience thanks everyone involved with the ACE Academy, especially event directors Yolandea Wood and Frank Mack, and the Creve Coeur Airport community for providing this excellent opportunity for the students to explore aviation careers.
