Fly Now! The Movie Filming Continues with Local Flights and Special Guests

The Fly Now! The Movie crew continued work on the new Reality Aviation Documentary (RAD) last weekend, gathering some footage of local pilots flying out of the home airport, Sackman Field, in Columbia, IL near St. Louis.  Saturday's filming included an air-to-air session with local pilots flying a variety of home-built, vintage and modern general aviation aircraft.  The Aero Experience flew with Director Jeff Wilson in his Aeronca Chief capturing video of the aircraft as they made passes near our camera ship.  Video from the flight may be seen in future promotional trailers.  Here are some views of Saturday's flying, featuring Bill Aanstad in the Piper Cub and Brian and Christine Kissinger in "Piety" the Pietenpol.

Around the Patch With the Fly Now! The Movie Crew - Piety and Cub

The Fly Now! The Movie crew continues to film scenes for the upcoming Reality Aviation Documentary (RAD).  On Wednesday, the crew gathered at the informal base of operations to film another podcast and get some video of Piety the Pietenpol and his best friend, Piper Cub, in the pattern at Sackman Field. 

The next guest on the podcast series will be Paul Voorhees, pilot, A&P mechanic and all-around personification of the spirit of Midwest Aviation.  Following the filming of the podcast, it was time to film some flying around the pattern by Brian Kissinger and Bill Aanstad in the classic Pietenpol and Piper Cub.  Here are some views of the interview with Paul Voorhees and the pattern work from yesterday.

Fly Now! The Movie Crew Goes to Sun'n Fun: From Flying to Driving

The Fly Now! The Movie crew was in Lakeland, FL last month for the annual Sun'n Fun International Fly-In and Expo to kick off production of the reality aviation documentary due for release later this year.  The original plan was for Executive Producer Brian Kissinger to fly the main character, a Pietenpol Air Camper, from St. Louis Downtown Airport to Lakeland with ground crew following to each airport recovery along the way.  The reality of rain at the airport and along the entire route put an end to that plan, and so a purely driving Plan B was put into action for the rest of the journey.

The Fly Now! The Movie crew gathered at Ideal Aviation on the west ramp of St. Louis Downtown Airport where the Pietenpol was hangared, early on April 19.  During a lull in the weather, the plane was flown back to its home at Sackman Airport and the caravan began the road trip by mid morning.  The adventures of the trip will be chronicled in future stories, but here are some views of the crew prior to leaving St. Louis and a special surprise viewed later in the day!
