Sackman Airport in Columbia, IL Holds Swap Meet, Fly-In

By Mark Nankivil
Sackman Field in Columbia, IL held a spring swap meet and fly-in Saturday.  A variety a aircraft, including homebuilts, ultralights and classic designs, lined the grass runways as hangars opened and planes landed.  Local pilots attempted to clean out their hangars, offering their wares to browsing visitors.  Sackman Field is a popular home base for area pilots, with its 2,450 foot grass runway, office building and hangars containing hidden aeronautical gems.  Be sure to visit Sackman Field next time you are in the St. Louis or southwest Illinois area.
