Air Associates Haunted Hangar Introduces Flight to St. Louis Community

By Carmelo Turdo
Air Associates of Missouri, a Cessna Pilot Center at Spirit of St. Louis Airport, held its "Haunted Hangar" fall event today.  The offices and hangar were decked out in festive Halloween decor, and the friendly staff was available to demonstrate the operation and maintenance of the Cessna Skyhawk and Skycatcher aircraft currently in use for flight training.  Discovery flights were offered, and pilot Rich Franzer took up a prospective pilot this morning in a Cessna 172 Skyhawk just as the sun broke through the cloudy sky.  "You are the pilot today," Franzer said as they entered the aircraft for the 30-minute local flight.  Other Discovery Flights and student pilot training flights were also conducted throughout the day.  Food, games and prizes were also provided, and the steady stream of visitors seemed to enjoy themselves and learn something about flying in the process.
