Patrick McAlee Performs at Great American Airshow in Union City, TN

By Carmelo Turdo
Patrick McAlee brought his high-energy, precision aerobatic performance to the Great American Airshow at Discovery Park of America in Union City, TN last weekend. McAlee captured the rapt attention of the audience as he entered the airshow box snap-rolling his Pitts S-1GT, the Blue Demon, leaving a spiraling trail of white smoke in his wake. The recently-installed yellow three-bladed wood composite GT propeller and large, overhead logo wrap from Vinyl Images gave dramatic contrast as the blue biplane tumbled and rolled in the evening sky. As is evident in the video below, Patrick McAlee narrates a portion of his show as he flies to personally engage the audience. Following the airshow, McAlee met with fans of all ages, thanking them for coming to Discovery Park of America and encouraging current students to consider the career options available in aviation.

The Aero Experience brings this exclusive coverage of Patrick McAlee at the Great American Airshow, from the preparations at nearby Everett-Stewart Regional Airport to the inside-the-cockpit video of the performance. We thank the airport staff, Air Boss Bob Connor of CapConn, Announcer Jerry Homsley and Patrick McAlee Airshows for their hospitality and assistance in preparing this story.
