Guest Post: Star Performers Bring Fire and Smoke to Central Iowa Airshow

Guest Post: The Aero Experience thanks our friend Duane Cooley of DRC Images for contributing this coverage of the Central Iowa Airshow held last weekend.

The Central Iowa Airshow was held at Ankeny Regional Airport, Iowa August 23-25, 2019.

The Aeroshell Aerobatic Team: Four AT-6/SNJ Texan trainers performed close formation aerobatics.



Aftershock Jet Fire Truck: The jet truck made solo runs and raced with Kyle Franklin.
















GhostWriter Airshows: Nathan K. Hammond flew GhostWriter, a 1956 deHavilland Chipmunk that has been specially modified for airshow aerobatics and skywriting. It was flown as a solo routine and provided some entertaining sky writing prior to the show.




















Phillips 66 Aerostars: Pilots Harvey “BOSS” Meek, Paul “ROCKET” Hornick, David “CUPID” Monroe and Gerry “FOSSIL” Molidor flew four Extras in formation and solo maneuvers. 



Red Bull Air Force: Variety act featured BO-105 helicopter flown by Aaron Fitzgerald, an EDGE 540 flown by Kirby Chambliss and the four skydivers who opened the show with the presentation of colors.





The Immortals: Skip Stewart flew Prometheus and Kyle Franklin flew Dracula in solo and team acts.























Susan Dacy: Susan Dacy flew her 450 horsepower Super Stearman, Big Red, in a solo act. 






















The USMC MV-22 from VMM-165, MCAS Miramar, CA, demonstrated the various capabilities of the Osprey.
