A weekend visitor to EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2016 was the NASA McDonnell Douglas F/A-18B Hornet. The jet, a two-seat early model legacy Hornet, is one of two Hornets obtained from the U.S. Navy and serves in the mission support role. The primary missions are chase and escort during research missions with other aircraft and staff pilot training and proficiency. The aircraft arrived on Friday and was on display through Sunday.
