Greetings from The Aero Experience Team

The Aero Experience is a celebration of Midwest aviation and aerospace achievement. We invite you to join us as we explore the treasures of Midwest aviation through first-hand experiences. Our contributors take turns flying lead, and we are always looking for new destinations. Check in with The Aero Experience frequently to see where we will land today, and then go out and have your own aero experiences!

Flying the Cherokee Around St. Louis Downtown Airport

By Carmelo Turdo
The Aero Experience was in the air again recently, this time in a Piper Cherokee flown by EAA Chapter 64 member Paul Voorhees.  We flew a few patterns around St. Louis Downtown Airport, passing by the control tower to Runway 5.  After takeoff, a right standard pattern brought us over the Jet Aviation terminal and surrounding areas on the way back to the runway for touch-and gos.  We eventually taxied back to the Greater St. Louis Air & Space Museum historic Curtiss-Wright Hangar 2 before securing the aircraft in its hangar later.  Here are some aerial views of the airport:
