Sackman Field Fly-In Is Favorite Fall Community Aviation Event
By Carmelo Turdo
The
Columbia Aero Club held their annual fall fly-in at Sackman Field in Columbia,
IL Sunday. The fall fly-in is a favorite family-friendly event, usually held on
a mid-October Sunday afternoon.It is an
occasion that attracts great friends, great food, and great aircraft! Virtually
any type of general aviation, light sport, ultralight, vintage etc. can be seen
some time during the day. Some new projects were underway in the hangars, and a
few aircraft have changed hands over the years. Our friends Mark and Elaine
Harter took center stage with their beautiful blue and white cabin Waco. Add
some cars, motorcycles and food, and you have a great Midwest Aviation event.
Here are some views of the day's activities.
