Large Model of Vickers Vimy "City of London" Now on Display at the Gateway Youth Aeronautical Foundation

The Gateway Youth Aeronautical Foundation recently received a unique donation - a large model of Vickers Vimy G-EASI, City of London. A civil derivation of the bomber that entered service with the Royal Air Force in 1918, the Vimy Commercial became Britain's standard transport and airliner, with this particular aircraft serving Instone Air Line on the London-Paris-Brussels-Cologne route in the early 1920s. A similar aircraft was used in the first non-stop flight across the Atlantic Ocean by John Alcock and Arthur Brown in 1919 as well as for long-distance flights to Australia and South Africa.
