The Aero Experience Road Trip: Missouri Airports Serve General Aviation in Their Local Communities Part 2
By Carmelo Turdo
Following our coverage of the Salute to Veterans Corporation airshow in Columbia, MO, The Aero Experience Team of Carmelo Turdo and Mark Nankivil set out on Missouri Airport Road Trip, Part 2. Our trek through central Missouri landed us at Jefferson City Memorial Airport, Rolla Vichy National Airport (including the DC-3 boneyard), Cuba Airport Mosby Field and Sullivan Regional Airport. Of course it is more fun to fly to each destination, but these airfields were so close together that we decided to visit them along our route back to St. Louis. So, using dead reckoning with map and airport guide, with GPS as a lifeline for each time we got lost, we continued our quest to visit all Missouri airports in 2013.
