Greetings from The Aero Experience Team

The Aero Experience is a celebration of Midwest aviation and aerospace achievement. We invite you to join us as we explore the treasures of Midwest aviation through first-hand experiences. Our contributors take turns flying lead, and we are always looking for new destinations. Check in with The Aero Experience frequently to see where we will land today, and then go out and have your own aero experiences!

EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2016: Exhibitors - Helicopters

Fred Harl and Carmelo Turdo AirVenture Oshkosh 2016 exhibitors included several helicopter manufacturers and operators.  We feature three examples here, Cicare of Argentina, Enstrom Helicopter Corporation of Menominee, MI and the Eurocopter (now Airbus) H120 (EC120B) used by U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

Cicare brings 50 years of production experience to the current light helicopter market.  Their exhibit featured the Cicare 7T tandem, two-seat, light sport (European Ultralight Class) helicopter that is powered by a 115hp Rotax 914UL piston engine.  Other models offered include the Cicare 8 and 12, both with a side-by-side seating arrangement that are also sold in kit form.

Enstrom Helicopter Corporation brought in their piston-powered F28F and turbine 480B models to their exhibit area.  They arrived together the Sunday prior to the opening day, and they were available for public display all week.  The turbine 480B was equipped with external sensors for the law enforcement mission.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security brought in their Airbus H120 used by U.S. Customs and Border Protection for aerial surveillance missions.  The H120 offers high cruise speed, low-noise and excellent crew visibility and can be flown operationally with a single-crew member.  It arrived on the Friday before opening day and was positioned inside the Federal Pavilion during the week.
