Sightings: Six U.S. Army Air Cavalry Kiowa Warriors Make Fuel Stop At St. Louis Downtown Airport
By Mark Nankivil
Six Bell Helicopter OH-58D Kiowa Warriors from the "Outcasts," C-Troop, 6th Squadron of the 6th U.S. Cavalry based at Ft. Drum, NY descended on St. Louis Downtown Airport this weekend on their way to Fort Bliss, Texas for two months of training. The armed scout helicopters were equipped with the mast-mounted sight housing high-resolution TV camera, infra-red thermal imaging navigation sensor, laser rangefinder and boresight assembly. Hydra 70 folding fin 2.75 inch rocket launchers were installed on the weapons pylons. The crews were very friendly, and The Aero Experience thanks them and airport management for allowing this coverage of the weekend visit.
