Blue Angels Arrive for Spirit of St. Louis Airshow

By Mark Nankivil
The U.S. Navy Blue Angels Flight Demonstration Squadron arrived today in preparation for the Spirit of St. Louis Airshow to be held this weekend.  The six F/A-18C Hornets and the KC-130 "Fat Albert" support aircraft arrived this morning and parked at the TAC Air ramp at Spirit of St. Louis Airport.  The Blue Angels held their practice session later in the afternoon, causing traffic backups along the adjoining roads in the Chesterfield Valley area near the airport.  Blue Angels Number 7 was also employed in giving a VIP flight to Dr. Darcy Benway, O'Fallon, IL Township High School District 203 Superintendent.  Other arrivals today included Patty Wagstaff, Michael Goulian, the Sky Soldiers helicopters among others.

The Aero Experience was on hand to capture the day's activities, and present a sample of the arrival and practice coverage below.  Check back again for coverage of the airshow throughout this weekend.  We wish to thank TAC Air and the Spirit of St. Louis Airshow staff for their hospitality and assistance in providing this airshow coverage.

Thanks for posting the info and all the photos! I LOVE The Blue Angels! Did you see on the local evening news about one of the pilots being a SLU graduate? I'm pretty sure he had to have graduated from the Parks College of Engineering, Aviation, and Technology!
