The
Columbia Aero Club held their annual fall fly-in at Sackman Field in
Columbia, IL last Sunday. The fall fly-in is a favorite family-friendly event, usually held
on a mid-October Sunday afternoon. It is an occasion that attracts great
friends, great food, and great aircraft! An eclectic mix of general
aviation, light sport, ultralight, vintage and warbird types can be seen. Some new projects were underway in the hangars, and a few aircraft
have changed hands over the years. Our friends Mark and Elaine Harter again took
center stage with their beautiful blue and white cabin Waco. Add some cars,
motorcycles and food, and you have a great Midwest Aviation event.
The cloudy skies did not prevent a good turnout this year, and The Aero Experience was on the field to capture the midmorning arrivals and local flights around the airport. We thank the Columbia Aero Club for hosting the event, and also all those who flew in to share their love of aviation!
